The sponsored event, which took place at Compton Abbas Airfield, saw Lee raise over £2,500 for the Poole hospice, which provides specialist end of life and palliative care for adults with advanced cancer and life-limiting illnesses across Poole, Wimborne and the Purbecks.
Describing the experience as an ‘exhilarating once in a lifetime opportunity’, Lee was airborne atop a vintage Stearman biplane for more than ten minutes and travelled to heights of up to one thousand feet overlooking the North Dorset countryside. He was supported on the ground by his father Nigel and three brothers, Jacey, Karl and Toby, all of whom make up the family-run business.
“This year marks the 25th anniversary of Town & Country so we wanted to make a special commitment to raising money for a local charity and to do that, one of the team had to get out of their comfort zone and I was volunteered!” remarked Lee.
Raising £2,545 in donations via a Just Giving page means Lee is one of just a handful of individuals to have raised such a stellar amount for Forest Holme, an achievement he is rightfully proud of.
“To be told by Forest Holme that my efforts will make such a difference to the hospice and their patients is great news and only this week, I was contacted by Just Giving to inform me that of their 55,496 fundraisers in May, I was in the top 3 per cent!”
