Established in 1992 by Nigel Butler, Town & Country initially offered mobile phones and contracts to private individuals. However, once mobile took off in the mid-nineties and providers slashed prices, T&C diversified into providing Dorset businesses with a one-stop shop for their mobile communications.
Between 1999 and 2014, Nigel was joined by four of his six sons and the business grew rapidly and moved into landlines and broadband. Partnerships secured with Vodafone, O2 and BT was a big move for Town & Country, and since 2013 they have become wholesale providers for the UK’s leading networks giving them better control as they can tailor monthly costs to suit the customer’s requirements and offer greater flexibility with contract terms.
“Being a close-knit family business, we’re able to offer a personal service to all our clients – something quite rare in the telecommunications sector. We’re able to offer 24/7 support and think nothing of visiting our customers when they have an issue rather than dealing with it over email or the telephone.” explains Nigel.
It’s this personal and ‘always on hand to solve an issue’ service that has led to Town & Country being the number one choice for communications by a number of Dorset’s leading businesses including Poole Audi, Westover Group, Churchill Retirement Living and Bournemouth Transport.
“Whilst for many companies in this sector, sales is their major driving force; providing excellent customer service is at the core everything we do. Although we deal with large corporate through to sole traders, each customer is treated with the same level of personal care and attention. When you call us, you speak to a member of our team that knows your business – we’ll never adopt a call centre mentality” explains Lee Butler, Nigel’s eldest son and Town & Country Managing Director.
From their Charminster Road office in Bournemouth, Town & Country pride themselves on keeping up-to-date with the latest technologies and issues facing business communications. With the recent spate of cyber-attacks, they’ve introduced an alert system for customers that identifies any out of the ordinary calls, which might be the result of fraudulent activity.
Town & Country are looking forward to celebrating their 25th year in business at this Summer’s event on the beach.
